First time here? Is this a scam?

Fair question. Available! is a reservation and payment layer for peer-to-peer local sales — a small tool sellers use on top of Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Nextdoor, etc. so buyers can actually commit to picking up an item.

What you’re doing here: reserving an item (free) so the seller holds it for you. You verify your phone by SMS so the seller knows you’re a real person. You can pay by card up front if you want to lock it in, or just show up at pickup and pay the seller in cash / Venmo / PayPal / card in person.

What happens to your card: if you pay by card, the payment runs through Stripe. Neither the seller nor Available! ever sees your card number. Same processor Amazon, Lyft, and most of the e-commerce web uses.

What if the seller doesn’t show up? Full refund. Card payments are refundable via Stripe; cash never leaves your hand until the item does.

Red flags to watch for anywhere online: a seller asking you to pay outside Available! (Zelle, wire transfer, gift cards), asking for “deposits” without a link like this one, or refusing to give a public neighborhood location. If anything feels off, walk.
